About Acupuncture

at West Auckland Medical Acupuncture and Remedial Massage

What do you need to do prior to your treatment?

  • Fill in your online consultation form (access this at the bottom of the booking email and allow 10 mins to fill it in) don’t forget to save it before you leave the page! YES – you can come back to it if you need to add anything. This saves time in the clinic and we can also see what we are treating prior to your arrival.
  • If for any reason you cannot fill in the online form, no problem, we can do it in the clinic for you.
  • Prior to arrival, please ensure you have eaten recently, although preferably not within the 1 hour preceding your treatment. This only stands if you are feeling dizzy, tired, are diabetic or have any other medical condition that means you need to eat more regularly.
  • Fluids are also important, especially in the hot months. We recommend you regularly sip fluids, but try not to have had too much in the hour preceding treatment.

What should you wear during your acupuncture treatment?

It doesn’t actually matter. But loose clothing if you prefer to remove less clothing (your feeling a bit shy or uncertain)!

You will have full privacy under blankets for treatment we only uncover the areas of treatment.

Your privacy is understood by us and we WILL make you feel really comfortable that is a part of our role.

Who should I choose as my therapist?

There are many ways to choose your therapist. Some of your preferences may include:

  • Cultural comfort (choose someone of the same culture as you): Please see our staff listings on the website OR booking options. We ask on our booking form if you need to educate us on any cultural norms we may not know about. Ka pai! Thank you.
  • Same gender or different gender: You can choose your preference. If you’re transgender, please let us know your pronouns on the booking form.
  • Age related: You may prefer someone your own age. Our therapists span a range of ages.
  • Empathy: We are all caring, kind and want to welcome and help you.
  • Great service: We are all trained to deliver an exemplary service! Sometimes finding the right fit with a therapist can be like finding the right fit with a hairdresser, favourite restaurant or osteo/physio. Come and try us out.

Consent!!!!

It’s really important once you make your decision to book in, that on the day you still feel comfortable and consent to your treatment.

If you are with one of our therapists and change your mind, that’s ok. This doesn’t usually happen, but we are giving you permission to say no and we will understand if you change your mind.

No charges will apply.

Want to know more about ACC? Read this:

ACC is a New Zealand Government Health Care initiative, that subsidizes New Zealanders treatment for any injuries you sustain.

We are extremely fortunate in New Zealand to have a system that helps us to get treatment so we can keep working. I have experienced the benefits of ACC cover first-hand when I have been injured – no business owner wants unnecessary time off!

ACC can also help financially if you are unable to work which can also reduce stress surrounding financial matters.
