Cupping, Moxa and Gusha – What are these techniques?

Moxa is a herb called Mugwort. It’s dried and rolled just like a cigar, we light it, and use the warm smoke near the skin, which penetrates into the skin and is and used to warm up the body when its cooler (it tends to be used more in the colder months or for the older population). Moxa is good for building blood when there is a reduction (aging, stress and illness come into this) and can used to help with things like getting a pregnancy moving (after 36 weeks safely), removing bruises in cases of traumatised ankles or joints, or other accidents. It’s also good for chronic health issues like arthritis (in some cases). Moxa smells like the forest – we check you like it before we use it.
Gusha is a technique that uses a tool to achieve what is similar to massage, except it gives a tight, firm pressure from the stone used. Great for what we call Bi Syndrome or Dampness, pushing the excess fluids around to maximise blood flow which reduces pain.
